Single-Stream Recycling Collection - Every FRIDAY 6:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.

Metal Collection - by Public Works - 1st & 3rd Friday 6:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.


DO NOT PUT RECYCLABLE MATERIAL IN PLASTIC BAGS

Definitions of Recyclable Materials

Plastic bottles and jigs

Soda, milk and detergent bottles, jars and jugs.  All containers must be empty, lids off and should be rinsed.  Labels may be left on.

Glass bottles and jugs

Bottles, jars and jugs - clear, brown and green.  Labels and metal rings may be left on.

NO cookware, window, auto or mirror glass. 

Aluminum and steel food and beverage containers and aerosol containers

Beverage and food containers, lids, caps and clean foil.  These may be placed in the same container.  Pet food cans with plastic liners are acceptable. 

Aerosol containers must be empty.

Labels may be left on containers.

Paper and cardboard

All uncontaminated newspaper, magazines, books, junk mail, corrugated and cardboard boxes, computer and copy paper.

NO pizza boxes, wax milk cartons or waxed boxes.

Place mixed paper in Blue Recycle Bank

Large metal items and appliances

Collected 1st & 3rd Fridays -
Call 467-0202 to schedule pickup

Washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, ovens, dish washers, hot and cold water tanks, air conditioners, swing sets, bicycles, auto parts, lawn care equipment, furnaces and other items made of metal.

Leaves

Leaves.  These will be collected by the Public Works Department in spring and fall.  A schedule will be published in the Gloucester County Times and Newtown Press, as well as this website. 

Leaves will NOT be accepted for trash collection.

NOT COLLECTED

Tires and auto batteries, motor oil and oil filters

These items are no longer accepted by the Borough.

Refer to the Gloucester County Special Waste Collection Day Information and or your local service center for additional disposal information.

Button Batteries, Rechargeable Batteries, Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Borough No Longer Accepting Tires, Oil Filters and Waste Oil.

At it's September 21, 2009 meeting, Swedesboro Council unanimously voted to immediately cease the acceptance of tires, waste oil and used oil filters from residents and businesses.  Old tires may be taken to the County Dump.  Waste Oil is accepted by most service stations where oil changes are performed.
