
Shade Tree Commission
The Commission meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm In Borough Hall.
The Shade Tree Commission shall have jurisdiction over the
planting, care, control, and removal of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery
within the Borough of Swedesboro.
Three to five members appointed for a three year term by the
Mayor. Term expires on December 31st. Council representative appointed
annually.

Swedesboro Shade Tree Commission Honored at NJ Shade Tree Federation Conference
Swedesboro Shade Tree Commission was awarded the 2009 Green Community Achievement Award at the NJ Shade Tree Conference held on Oct. 24 in Cherry Hill NJ. Mary Ann Homan, long time Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission accepted the award from The NJ Forest Service, NJ Tree Foundation and NJ Community Forestry Council
This award was given because Swedesboro has been exemplary in fulfilling all community grant obligations and their Forestry Management Plans are kept up to date. The Shade Tree commission is working on their third Community Forestry Management Plan. Swedesboro Shade Tree Commission demonstrates excellence in the field of community forestry by planting “the right tree in the right place” and that each tree is planted adhering to the New Jersey Forest Service Tree Planting Specifications. The Commission works diligently providing the borough with attractive and healthy tree lined streets. The award, a painting of a Cucumber Magnolia tree is accented by a hand carved Cucumber Magnolia wood frame. Mary Ann Homan and the members of the commission recently presented the award to the Mayor and Council to be proudly displayed in the Borough Hall.
