Swedesboro Public Library, one of the oldest libraries in the state of New Jersey, was established in 1783. The library was originally housed in the Borough Hall and was incorporated in 1937. Swedesboro Public Library became a branch of Gloucester County Library System in 2005.

Swedesboro Library Addition
The Swedesboro Library Branch has been closed during construction of the new addition. The Gloucester County Library System has opened a temporary satellite branch at the Swedesboro Borough Hall to serve Swedesboro residents during the expansion project.

GROUND BREAKING
A ceremonial ground breaking took place on Thursday, October 29, 2009 in the rear of the Swedesboro Library. The ceremony marked the beginning of the expansion to the Swedesboro Library. Work is expected to commence in January 2010 after bids have been received.

BID AWARDED!
On Monday, April 5, 2010, Borough Council awarded the bid for the Library Expansion project. Things should start moving in the next couple of weeks, so check back for updates on the library when the library will be closed and where to go to use computers and other library resources.
